As we are unable at present to communicate with
Germany
to obtain remittances for this indebtedness we wrote with this
view to the Liquidators of Messrs. Jebsen & Co., Hongkong, the
Joint Guarantors of the account, and have received their reply
of which we enclose a copy, stating that there are ample funds
and that they were putting the case before the Attorney-General
for reference to yourself. In accordance with this suggestion
made in their said letter we now beg to approach you with regard
to the necessary authority for payment out of funds of Jebsen & Co.
in Liquidation in Hongkong, and we shall be prepared to give the
Guarantee mentioned by the Liquidators. We further enclose for
your perusal copies of our letter of 10th April to the Hongkong
Liquidators with translation of the respective Guarantees for
which the Liquidators have asked us.
Our Bank, as you doubtless are aware is working under
a License dated 19th September 1914 from His Majesty's Government,
our Controller being Sir William Plender, and all amounts collected
by us go towards reducing our debt at the Bank of England.
We respectfully ask your kind consideration of this
matter and hoping to hear favorably from you in due course,
we are, sir,
Your obedient Servants,
THE DRESDNER BANK
